LUCION ACHIEVES SENTINEL SPONSOR STATUS FOR RAIL SECTOR PROJECTS

21 June 2016

Lucion Environmental has announced that it has been awarded sponsor status with the railway industry’s Sentinel safety system.

As part of the auditing process associated with Lucion’s ongoing membership of the Railway Industry Supplier Qualification Scheme (RISQS), the company was assessed against Sentinel programme criteria and passed with zero non-compliances.

The assessment also confirmed Lucion’s continuing five-star rating for the Industry Minimum Requirements Module of the RISQS supplier pre-qualification service.

Acceptance onto the Sentinel scheme means the company will now be able to directly sponsor its staff for eligibility for trackside working, as well as for jobs on railway construction sites, rail depots and station maintenance projects.

This means that Lucion will take direct responsibility for registering its staff working on rail sector projects, ensuring that Personal Track Safety (PTS) and Industry Common Induction (ICI) competencies are achieved and verifying their fitness for work.

Sentinel is one of the premier safety systems in use across the rail industry and provides qualifying workers with a smart card passport for work on the rail infrastructure across the UK.

Stephen Wingrove, Lucion Rail Sector Manager, said:

“The Sentinel programme covers the safety procedures and risks that are common across the rail industry.

“As a result, achieving sponsor status not only confirms that our internal systems and processes are of the highest standard, but will also enable us to improve our service levels by responding quickly and directly to all rail industry client needs.”
