Lucion Services’ Technical Director Chris Parr and Associates exhibit at the preliminary Asbestonomy 2022 conference

9 June 2022

According to Think Tank ResPublica, an estimated six million tonnes of asbestos remain inside 1.5 million buildings in the U.K. including schools and hospitals — many of which were built prior to the 1999 ban. In order to be more effective together in the fight against asbestos, Editions Cédille has organised Asbestonomy, a conference and networking event designed to provide a platform for sharing experience and knowledge on the asbestos issue.

About Asbestonomy

Taking place on the 16th & 17th of June 2022 at the ILEC Conference Centre in London, the preliminary Asbestonomy event will bring together key players in the asbestos industry from across the globe. The event features an evening of networking followed by an all-day conference, providing a platform for attendees to learn, understand and discover the latest innovations in asbestos risk management.

About Chris Parr

As Technical Director at Lucion, Chris maintains an integrated Quality Management System (PAS 99 certified by BSI) to include ISO17020, ISO17025 (requirements for asbestos testing, and inspection accreditation by UKAS), ISO9001, ISO14001 and ISO 45001 (certified by BSI). Chris has over 18 years of experience in the industry, including work as an asbestos analyst, surveyor, consultant, project manager, and trainer.

Chris commented on this year’s upcoming event saying;

“Firstly I’m excited to be back out and able to make new connections and have first-hand conversations with new people again, after too long away.

The House of Commons Work and Pensions Committee most recent report published on the 21st April 2022, ‘The Health and Safety Executive's Approach to Asbestos Management', recommends that the HSE, as part of their upcoming review of the Control of Asbestos Regulations, current guidance and stringent control measures must be implemented in line with other European countries and invest in awareness campaigns as well as more regular audits and investigations of sites to ensure compliance. Our support of the Asbestonmy isn’t about meeting buyers but provides us with an invaluable opportunity to learn and contribute to the industry whilst continuing to protect people and the environment from asbestos hazards”

Asbestonomy Supports Charity Associations

Asbestonomy's main ambition is to share international expertise and create a community to act in the best possible way, and thus limit the risks of exposure to asbestos wherever you are in the world. Sharing is one of Asbetonomy's strong values, which is why they have decided to support two associations: Mavis Nye Foundation and European Asbestos Forum by donating 5% of ticket sales.
