Who are British Water?

British Water, the trade association, is the lead representative and business development organisation for the supply chain of the UK water industry. Their members cover a wide range of the water industry, representing the interests of their members and debate on issues relating to the water industry. British Water communicate the member body views credibly and appropriately to authorities and decision-makers. British Water helps their members in promoting best practice within the industry and promoting awareness and efficiency to improve business performance.

What is the British Water Annual Survey?

First undertaken in 2003, the British Water Annual Survey came about after water providers requested feedback from the industry supply chain in order to measure up against their competitors. Open to all water providers, the survey aims to provide an overview of the industry as a whole and identify those who are making strides within the water industry. The survey measures suppliers’ views on how the main water and sewerage companies perform and compare with each other. Survey participants range from Framework Capital Contractors and Consultants, Chemical Suppliers, Distribution Materials Suppliers, Maintenance and Waste Contractors.

As outlined by British Water, the survey measures:

  • Contractual Approach
  • Attitude
  • Professional Qualities
  • Impact on Supply Chain
  • Procurement
  • Following Policies
  • Communication
  • Partners and Main Contractors
  • AMP Transition & Recession

Stephen Whaley, Northumbrian Water Group’s Contracts Procurement Manager, said:

“This is another great result with suppliers choosing us as the number one water company to work for again.

“It demonstrates the hard work that we have put into building strong, working relationships with our suppliers in order to deliver an excellent service to our customers.”

Lucion Services was recognised and thanked by Northumbrian Water for their participation in the survey, helping them to make it to the top of charts.
