Challenges

They manage some of London’s largest entertainment events, including the British Summer Time Festival in Hyde Park, which has a capacity of 65,000, and Winter Wonderland. Given the scale of these events, food hygiene, welfare, traffic management and accident response and emergency planning are key concerns for the park management and requires expertise and specialist knowledge for hazards risk assessment and implementing control measures to mitigate risk in large and complex environments.

The Solution

Working in collaboration with the Health & Safety Environment Manager and individual Park Managers and Heads of Departments, our team of expert H&S Consultants have undertaken a full-scale health and safety management system audit, covering policy and procedures, project safety management, supply chain management, compliance (fire, asbestos, legionella) management, accident investigations and site audits. Outcomes and improvement actions include additional training for staff and management plan updates for compliance issues, and have implementation over a budgeted programme.

We have delivered IOSH Managing Safely training (standard and refresher courses) for The Royal Parks’ Senior Managers in order to provide them with knowledge and capability to manage safety more effectively and in line with best practice.
