What is Anthrax?

Anthrax is a serious infectious disease.  Although it is rare, people can get sick with anthrax if they come in contact with infected animals or contaminated products and can be life threatening.

How can humans become infected with Anthrax?

Anthrax can enter the human body through inhalation, ingestion or through open cuts and wounds. Anthrax can be found in building materials such as plaster, metals, in paint samples, and in soils. It is estimated to be a present contaminant in millions of buildings throughout the UK, where animal containing products have been used during the building process, including in lime based plasters.

Do I need an Anthrax test?

Before commencing any refurbishment or demolition works, it is imperative to conduct an Anthrax test to ensure individuals are protected from possible life-threatening exposure.

Our team of Environmental Surveyors and Analysts conduct Anthrax testing and sampling nationwide.

What are my responsibilities?

The HSE states employers should make steps to control the potential hazardous risks of Anthrax exposure by implementing a system to Assess, Control, and Review.
